Future Plans for Otto Road & Plank Road
 |
| Montgomery County and PennDOT have revealed a proposed plan to improve
the entire stretch of road from Township Line Road at Fox Heath all
the way down to Route 29 at Plank Road. This road is currently a Perkiomen
Township road. The plan is to make it a Pennsylvania state road and
dramatically improve it. It will be widened to make two 12' wide car
paths and a 5' shoulder on each side (a total width of 34'). This
would be done from Township Line Road to Route 29. |
| PennDOT studies have determined that the road is a major artery
connecting the two roads (Township Line and Route 29) and deficiencies
need to be remedied. They will be installing traffic lights at Skippack
Pike and Plank Road and also at Plank Road and Route 29. The Ott Road
/ Plank Road dogleg will be eliminated by straightening Ott Road. |
| Below are aerial photos of the current configuration and a rendition
of the new configuration. Neat stuff !! The cost is estimated to be
$3.5 million. Realistically, when will it be completed...5 to 7 years.
(You know PennDOT). |
